"Loose Talk" was Lou Whitney's idea; he played me the Buck and Bonnie Owens version and told me that we should do it for the record. It came up towards the end, and it was almost a present from Lou; it was an idea that I didn't have to come up with. When we recorded the vocals, me and Syd stood there singing together, and I definitely sang better because of that. I was out on tour in '04 with Steve Earle, and I got introduced to our bus driver, Doyle Holly. It took a couple of days to make the connection, but we eventually realized that he was the same Doyle Holly who was the bass player in Buck Owens' band the Buckaroos. After I got to know him a little bit, I played him my version of "Loose Talk" and Doyle approved and promised to send it to Buck.
