Total Destruction To Your Mind

from Roscoe's Gang by Eric Ambel

about

Swamp Dogg's "Total Destruction to Your Mind" was cut at home on the four-track. I'd heard it on The Hound's radio show on WFMU and thought it was a cool song, so I went upstairs to The Hound's apartment to get a copy of the song. When I saw the album cover—with a picture of Swamp in a basement room, smoking a cigar, in boxer shorts and socks with garters—I knew I had to do it. We had the Big Band on the album version—all of the Morells, Peter Holsapple playing guitar, Jim Wunderle singing the harmony, Mr. Thing on sax and everybody on gang vocals. After the album came out, L.A. writer/scenester Art Fein brought Swamp Dogg to the only Roscoe's Gang West Coast show, at the Palomino in Los Angeles, and I've been friends with Swamp ever since.
